Q&A: ? Appears on Sony digital photo frame instead of JPEG picture; how can I get it to display?

Question by j_rock135: ? Appears on Sony digital photo frame instead of JPEG picture; how can I get it to display?
Out of 1400 pictures 5 very important photos do not show on the photo frame but instead there is an queston mark in its place. I have read that it is because they were altered JPEGs, but i simply scanned them and did nothing else. What is weird is these photos are from the same batch and are all black and white.

Will this be sorted out if I change the file type to for example bmp?? Or do they need re-scanning (I hope not as haven’t got a clue where the pictures are now)..

can you view the pics with any other software? if not the pics may be corrupted. If they are I would search on google for programs that try and fix photos. As for the changing file type why dont you just try it and see?

Q&A: How can I upload a well known painting to identify it?

Question by Rosemary: How can I upload a well known painting to identify it?
I bought a cheap+cheerful framed print from a DIY shop, all others for sale were by Van Gogh, Monet etc but I cannot identify this one! The name at the bottom is partly obscured but looks like R H Bertram. It is of a field of sunflowers with a village and mountain behind, has a definite South of France feel to it. I have done searches by name, era, style etc, but am still no closer to an answer. I have taken a digital photo and wonder if I could upload it somewhere in the hope that it is as well-known as the others for sale in the same shop!

At most host stations in the world an upload is accepted as .jpg file if not larger than 1 MB

Q&A: How do I get digital photo prints which display the date on them??

Question by rachiepachie: How do I get digital photo prints which display the date on them??
Hi, I have printed out digital pictures from my digital camera at my local supermarket before and I noticed they do not display the date. Is there any way I can print digital pictures with the date on them? On my computer hard drive where I store all my digital pictures from the camera, if I right-click on any photo and click on “Properties”, it will always tell me the date on which the photo was taken – so obviously the information regarding the date the photo was taken has not been lost. But tell me, how can I get this date to print out on a normal photo print? Would I have to get my own mini photo printer (like an Epson, Canon, etc.) to do this? By the way, do those mini photo printers sold in the shops for home use print out dates on the photos?? I need to print a batch of photos with dates on as evidence to my landlord that the flat was already dirty and there were obvious signs of wear-and-tear when we moved in on the first day of tenancy. Thanks!
Sorry, I meant “Ex-Landlord”.

Q&A: What Digital Picture Frame Would You Recommend As A Gift?

Question by flyboop_2000: What Digital Picture Frame Would You Recommend As A Gift?
I want to purchase a digital picture frame for my parents, who are not the most computer savvy, but can do simple tasks. What is most important is the quality of images and movies; however it should be easy to upload and display pictures.
Any suggestions? Kodak, Phillips, Polaroid?

and USB! Let me know if you find something better!

Here’s a great deal in your price range for an 9″ with remote, interchangable face plates, adjustable stand, and AC adapter. It also has built in memory so you won’t have to buy a memory card.

Q&A: Electronic photo frame problem?

electronic photo frame
by Jef Harris

Question by Josh: Electronic photo frame problem?
I am wanting to get lots of photos from facebook, bebo, myspace etc onto my electronic photo frame but when I copy them off of these sites and onto the computer they go really small and blurry and can’t be seen very well on the photo frame. Do you know how I sort this problem out?

Best answer:

Answer by Wine Country Girl
Those photos were probably resized by those websites to fit. They do not like to have super large picture files, and you really only need a 72 dpi photo for the web, whereas for printing out you want larger (and for photo frames). Do you have the originals? Use them. Hopefully you didn’t delete them after placing them online. That would not be a good thing!!!

If the DPI has been changed, and the size of the photo is super small, you can change it back to larger, but the quality is just giong to go down. It is best to always shoot at the highest quality and then resize as needed.

I recommend for a photo frame doing the following. Create a separate folder for the frame. Copy and paste each photo that you want in the frame into the folder. You will now have the photo in the original folder, and now in a second folder. Whenever you want to delete or add photos, just go into your Frame Folder and do that, those pics are copies.. so they can be deleted without worries. If you want them in a certain order then change the names… When you put the memory card into your computer, copy the whole folder, and replace the original (so that you are not just adding new pics, but also deleting old ones you no longer want to display).

Hope this helped… I love photo frames and the ability to show off all the fun photos super fast!!
