A little shaky here but wanted to show a view of the current wall at Austin’s Barber Shop in Downtown Beloit.

I basically suck at the craft of printing and displaying photos. And I really admire and greatly appreciate the real artisans who create awesome displays that delight one’s eyes.

I’ve resurrected my wife’s old HP laptop and figured it would be perfect for a digital photoframe project.

Some of my ideas:

Configurable slideshows from a local or networked disk

Ability to display a Flickr stream from RSS feeds and certain tags

Possibly realtime weather, time?

All of this is more of a dream at this point, as I am not much of a coder , but a confident hacker.

I came pretty close to finishing up the software install for a digital photo frame with an old laptop. However there were too many reasons to give up.
Biggest problem- once I finally got a version of Linux on it I noticed the picture quality was extremely poor. Also no mouse control. I plugged a mouse into the port then rebooted and it crashed the OS. I don’t think it’ll be a digital photo frame any time soon.

I have another laptop at home that isn’t really doing much good. I may try to turn it in to a frame..
