Notice the wifi card. The keyboard is mounted to the back of the lcd. All neatly inside the frame and secured with foam and you guessed it – duct tape. ugly, but efficient.

A little shaky here but wanted to show a view of the current wall at Austin’s Barber Shop in Downtown Beloit.

I basically suck at the craft of printing and displaying photos. And I really admire and greatly appreciate the real artisans who create awesome displays that delight one’s eyes.

Its on of those 7" digital photo frames which comes with two SD cards of recipes. Interesting alternative use of the product as an ereader.

This is the only photo I took today, plus I’ve already tweeted it so I’m probably cheating. It’s a digital photo frame we have in the library for showing news and upcoming events. An easy (and cheap) alternative to a big screen.

The aPad! A simple philips digital photoframe with a picture of the A-Team.

"Team! Team, team, team, team, team! I even love saying the word "team"!
You probably think that’s a picture of my family. Uh uh. It’s the A-Team!"

I’ve resurrected my wife’s old HP laptop and figured it would be perfect for a digital photoframe project.

Some of my ideas:

Configurable slideshows from a local or networked disk

Ability to display a Flickr stream from RSS feeds and certain tags

Possibly realtime weather, time?

All of this is more of a dream at this point, as I am not much of a coder :) , but a confident hacker.

Nice Digital Photo Frame Battery photos

With keyboard and battery in place temporarily to setup software. It runs Xubuntu (a light version of ubuntu that uses the XFCE window manager), FEH for showing images in a slideshow, LIRC to accept commands from a standard IR remote, XDaliclock and Sunclock for an interesting clock, X11VNC for remote control, OSDSH for an on screen display

Window on the right, corridor on the left.

My ‘home office’ is at one end of our living room and I have an Airport Express connected to the AV amp at the other end for listening to iTunes.

The shelves are some ancient ones from Ikea which I have on loan from my sister (although I’ve had them for about six years now so hopefully she’s forgotten about them!).
The two grey boxes on the middle right hand shelf are LaCie firewire drives. One day I’ll replace them with USB drives so I can get rid of one more cable ;)

Cool Digital Photo Frame With Wifi images

I found one of my old creations.
Long before the introductions of photo frames, I had the urge to share my pictures with family that lived elsewhere.
I created a couple of "frames" from some Compaq pda’s.
These where thick and bulky back then, and the wifi add on where even bigger, but the screen where neat and small :(
This where one of the results, running on the device where a FTP server so I could update them remotely and in the front end a slide show program that show a new image every other minute or so.
They where fun to create even if I don’t use them anymore.

Cool Toys pics of the day: QuickStork

QuickStork:

In their words:

"Sorry, we got a bit carried away. QuickStork allows you to access,
share, and manage any photo on the Internet: from Flickr, Facebook,
Picassa, or just photos you find on Google. Using QuickStork you can
share any pictures in Real-Time with any Wifi digital photo frame,
widget, or computer. If you are traveling in Asia you can share your
pictures with your parents’ frame in New York. No more e-mailing or
complex settings. This is person to person photo sharing with the
click of a button. You know what you are sending, when you’re sending
it, and that someone has received it. We’ve also added a bunch of
other good stuff like the ability to create virtual frames to share
your pictures with others by embedding them in blogs, websites,
desktops etc. You can also send your cell phone pictures to real or
virtual frames too. Think you’ve got the idea?"

Intriguing. I’m thinking you could probably also use this as a backend
to supporting website integration? Not sure but interested in the
potential.

Me dicking around with lights in my bedroom. long string of red LED lights looped a few times around the radiator brackets creates a nice even red glow looking a bit like a bedhead almost, a Mathmos Space Projector with deep red colour Gel, and a 9" Digital Photo Frame full of Red pictures… Great effect overall :p
